Romero Britto
Romero Britto was born in Recife, Brazil in 1963. Self-taught, from a young age he painted on surfaces such as newspaper. After traveling to Paris, he combined influences from Cubism and POP to create a vibrant iconic style. In 1988 he moved to Miami, emerging as an international artist. Absolut Vodka selected him for its “Absolut Art” campaign, after which he continued with other collaborations for Audi, Bentley, Disney, Technomarine, Evian and FIFA, for whom he designed an official poster for the 2010 World Cup. Britto has been exhibited in galleries and museums in over 100 countries including exhibition at the Salon Nationale des Beaux-Arts, at the Carrousel du Louvre in 2008 and in 2010. His public art installations include the O2 dome in Berlin, Hyde Park in London, John F. Kennedy Airport in New York and Cirque du Soleil in the XLI edition of Super Bowl. He has also illustrated several books with Simon & Schuster and Rizzoli. Britto is a benefactor of many organizations, donating his time, art, and resources, from St. Jude Children’s Hospital to Harvard’s International Negotiations program.
